Auburn Hills, Michigan – October 9, 2019 —Continental Structural Plastics (CSP), a global leader in highly-engineered, composite vehicle components, today announced it has expanded its expertise at the senior level in the Purchasing Department, adding John Hiovich as Vice President of Purchasing.
Hiovich replaces Charles Gelfand, who after 10 years with CSP, announced his retirement earlier this year. Gelfand will stay on with CSP to ensure Hiovich’s smooth transition into the vice president of purchasing role, and will later himself transition to a special projects role until is formal retirement in 2020.
“We are pleased to add a professional with John’s experience to our management team as Charlie prepares to retire,” said Steve Rooney, CSP’s CEO. “With his more than 30 years of industry experience, and close relationships with some of the most important global glass and resin suppliers, Charlie’s expertise in composites, attention to detail and leadership have helped CSP sustain its growth over the past ten years. His retirement is going to leave a void in our organization. But I am confident that John is ready for the challenge to help CSP continue to improve its purchasing processes as our organization grows globally.”
Prior to joining CSP, Hiovich was with Magna, where he worked most recently as Director, Strategic Sourcing – North America. Hiovich has nearly 20 years of purchasing experience, as well as several years of engineering experience, all with global automotive suppliers including Magna and GKN. His extensive global purchasing experience includes CAPEX, commodity management, service and utilities contract management, and indirect/MRO materials management.
Hiovich holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Phoenix, and has completed numerous leadership certification programs through GKN. He is also a certified master scuba and rescue diver, and has worked as a volunteer fire chief.
