Composites technology leader receives award for maintaining a sub 50 PPM quality output
TROY, Mich., May 15, 2013 —Continental Structural Plastics (CSP) is pleased to announce its receipt of PACCAR Inc.’s prestigious quality performance award by attaining a Parts Per Million (PPM) level below 50. The award acknowledges CSP’s Carey, Ohio, plant for its 2012 PPM level attainment.
As one of the select few suppliers to attain this level of quality, CSP has been added to PACCAR’s list of 2012 “50 PPM” suppliers displayed on its website (www.paccar.com) and in its facilities. In addition to quality delivered to PACCAR assembly plants, this award also recognizes CSP for exceptional shipment consistency to PACCAR production plants and collaboration with PACCAR support services.
CSP is a market-leading innovator of composite products for the global automotive, heavy truck, agricultural, HVAC, building construction and materials sales markets. Its customer, PACCAR, is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support for premium light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt nameplates.
“It is an honor to receive this significant recognition from PACCAR,” said Frank Macher, CEO and chairman, Continental Structural Plastics. “At CSP, we strive to be one step ahead of the composites industry, and this award recognizes our influential position as a global technology and manufacturing leader.”
CSP has been a PACCAR supplier for nearly three years, supplying parts to two production facilities for PACCAR Class 8 trucks. These parts include a Class A exterior hood assembly in standard and short hood versions.
“Throughout the world, DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks have earned a reputation for unsurpassed quality,” said Brennan G. Gourdie, senior director of purchasing, PACCAR Inc. “Much of the credit goes to PACCAR suppliers like Continental Structural Plastics who meet or exceed PACCAR’s quality expectations.”
In addition to PACCAR hoods, CSP’s Carey plant, which employs 585 people in over 400,000 square-feet of manufacturing and assembly space, produces several other Class A body exterior parts including the Chrysler Jeep® Wrangler removable hard top (supplied in either “Black Spatter” or body color topcoat), the Hino medium-duty hood assembly (Class 5-6 truck), and several long fiber reinforced thermoplastic structural applications.
