OUR COMPANY

Continental Structural Plastics is the global leader in the formulation of advanced composites, and the design and manufacturing of components that enable our customers to build lighter, stronger, more energy efficient vehicles. We are a proven manufacturer of highly-engineered products for dynamic market segments, including automotive, heavy truck, marine and recreational vehicles. Our global manufacturing and compounding footprint enables us to supply consistent materials and components to customers across North America, Europe and Asia – a capability no other composite manufacturer can provide.

Our advanced engineering team understands composite materials better than any other team in the industry. We develop proprietary composite formulations, produce them, and see them through the manufacturing process to meet the design and regulatory needs of our customers all over the world.  Today, we are using this vast knowledge of composites to explore a variety of options, including multi-material approaches, that reduce weight while meeting rigorous design and crash test specifications.

We’re not just one step ahead of the competition, we’re one step ahead of the industry, developing and testing the next innovation in light-weighting. Working at our best-in-class, in-house lab that is fully-equipped to formulate, compound and test an array of materials, our materials development team is continuously exploring ways to make our materials lighter, stronger and greener. Our composite alternatives are made from eco-conscious materials including carbon fiber, synthetic packing, and natural and organic fillers.

OUR HISTORY

Continental Structural Plastics (CSP) has more than 50 years of experience as a plastics manufacturer supplying compression molded components to the automotive industry. In the late 1960s, we invested in compression molding research and development to refine our composite products and improve our manufacturing techniques. We’ve progressed by focusing on technology, and advancing composite materials to create innovative design solutions through lightweighting, strengthening and molding techniques.

We create high-quality composites that are:

  • Lightweight yet strong
  • Resistant to dents, rust and corrosion
  • Superior to metals in design and styling capabilities
  • More cost‐effective than metals

Decades of experience working with composites combined with our commitment to quality have helped us to achieve zero PPM defects in the manufacturing process. Our products have replaced steel and aluminum in many applications, and offer superior strength-to-weight ratios for customers looking to reduce weight and increase fuel efficiency. With more than 50 patents covering materials development and manufacturing processes, our expert staff is aggressively developing and testing new materials and processes to further improve our products.
